Emma Heats Up

Emma Blyth has built a loyal following in Broome over recent years.  Her vibrant works brightened the gallery and she has always been easy to approach and willing to interact with art enthusiasts.  Here is an excerpt from her recent travel diary.  We will keep you posted with information regarding any upcoming exhibitions by Emma.

Chasing the sun

Well, I just had to get into some some warmer weather and sunshine, seeing I was missing out on my annual pilgrimage to Broome!!!

Cossack Art Awards and the delivery of a commission piece to Point Samson provided me with the
perfect excuse.

The road trip began. Called in to the Pinnacles, a quick stopover at Exmouth, then up to the fantastic Samson Beach Chalets for a couple of nights. It is such a beautiful part of the country, it always provides me with a mountain of inspiration. The Cossack Art Awards was an exciting night - $109 000 in prize money up for grabs. Nearly 300 pieces were up for exhibit. The historical setting and remote location makes this exhibition so unique, I was so excited to be part of it. With the Roebourne Shire and both large and small local companies supporting, it is such a huge incentive for artists Australia wide. The community support shown with a very high percentage in sales makes this art exhibition a great success.

Four freezing nights and beautiful days in Karijini rounded off the Pilbara nicely. It doesn't matter how many times I go to Karijini, I am still amazed at the enormity of the gorges and the brilliant colours of the outback, not to mention the icy temperature of the swimming holes! A week of sketching and photos and I can't wait to get back to the studio! Three nights at beautiful Monkey Mia rounded off the trip catching a few rays on the beach.

So I've hit the brushes! The Pilbara paintings are on the go and then the Kimberley painting begins... Artist in Residence at Cable Beach Club Resort at the end of July next year and hopefully plans for an exhibition at the same time.
